Man and the Machine @ Cornell Fine Arts Museum

Cornell Fine Arts Museum - Rollins College
“CFAM is proud to premiere this exhibition of rare, Stalinist-era propaganda posters from the collection. Following an extensive and well-documented conservation process, this selection of Russian posters from the 1930s are shown along with a group of American and British propaganda posters from World War I. The two groups invite dialogue between visual representations of the machine, constructions of masculinity and femininity, urbanization, and nationalism. Each group also stands on its own as representations of the power of the image—and the artist—in social and political history.”

The Criterion Collection has just launched a channel on Hulu, on which you can now watch six features in the classic Zatoichi: The Blind Swordsman series for free. Black Dynamite (Enzian Theatre)
02/05/10 19:14 Filed in: Film
Enzian is showing Black Dynamite tonight & tomorrow only! I’ve already seen the movie (thanks Matt), but would love to see it again on the big screen as it was intended.
Showtime: 11:59 PM
Enzian.org:
“BLACK DYNAMITE is a kung-fu-fighting, pimp-slapping, gun-blasting, outrageously over-the-top parody of ’70s-era blaxploitation films that delivers big action and even bigger laughs like nobody’s bizness. An outrageous action comedy-spoof following the exploits of an ex-CIA agent (Michael Jai White) and full-time ladies man out to avenge the death of his brother against kung-fu masters, drug-dealing pimps and The Man. Meet Black Dynamite (Michael Jai White), the smoothest, baddest cat on the street. He’s a ladies’ man and the man with a plan. He’s also a former C.I.A. agent out to avenge his brother’s death. Whether he’s taking down drug dealers or sweet-talking foxy mommas, he’s the man on the streets out to stop The Man. Take a wild ride from the mean streets of the ghetto to the pool halls of the inner city, all the way to the “Honky House” with this bad-ass, tough-as-nails action hero.”
