“Peter Saville is best known for his iconic white-on-black cover for Joy Division’s classic Unknown Pleasures and for New Order’s “Blue Monday” single (which, it should be noted, was the main inspiration behind Spectral Sound’s early sleeves). The prolific UK graphic designer also co-founded Factory Records with Tony Wilson, and co-designed the infamous Hacienda nightclub. Saville’s finest work—including record covers for Patti Smith, Roxy Music, Wham!, Suede, and Pulp—is collected in Peter Saville: Estate 1-127.

Florida Film Festival

Paper Man is the opening film at this year’s Florida Film Festival (FFF). Emma Stone (Zombieland) is one of the stars in the film. Lisa Kudrow (favorite TV “Friends”) and Jeff Daniels also star in this coming-of-middle age story. The film is directed by Michele & Kieran Mulroney.
The main feature is preceded by an Australian film entitled, “My Rabit Hoppy” from 2008. Directed by Anthony Lucas, his film “The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello” was the 2006 nominee for Best Animated Short Academy Award. I purchased the short-film from the iTunes Store last year. I thought how often do you see an original steampunk animation film like this? His later film, My Rabit Hoppy is sure to be disturbingly interesting. Instead of reading my slanted-promotion, just visit the Florida Film Festival website.
