Hao Hao

I don’t really know what Hao Hao is exactly? I was in an Asian Supermarket and saw my name on the box. Check the little company logo in the lower left-corner. The mascot reminds me of the Pillsbury Doughboy.

Technic 1200's RIP

A friend told me that Technics Turntables were being discontinued. The website, Resident Advisor confirmed the rumors.

“Panasonic has confirmed that their Technics brand of turntables has been discontinued.

The Osaka-based technology company sent out the following statement yesterday:

Panasonic has confirmed that it ceased the production of its Technics-branded analogue turntables this autumn.

After more than 35 years as a leading manufacturer of analogue turntables, Panasonic has regretfully taken the decision to leave this market. However, Panasonic will continue to sell headphones under the Technics brand.

We are sure that retailers and consumers will understand that our product range has to reflect the accelerating transformation of the entire audio market from analogue to digital.

In addition, the number of component suppliers serving the analogue market has dwindled in recent years and we brought forward the decision to leave the market rather than risk being unable to fulfill future orders because of a lack of parts.

Panasonic employees who have been working on the analogue turntable range have been redeployed elsewhere within Panasonic – many of them continuing to work in Panasonic’s Audio Video Business Unit.”

The Dick Flash Interview with Brian Eno

The Dick Flash Interview with Brian Eno has to be total bullshit, but it’s hilarious! From the start, interviewer ‘Dick Flash’ names the album title incorrectly but continues on as if nothing’s wrong. After that, Dick manages to cut-off Eno multiple times while spilling a load of ridiculous questions. Another weird part in the interview is when “medium is the message” Marshall McLuhan is mentioned but confused with Malcolm McLaren (Punk/Sex Pistols). Watch the awkward ending for a good laugh.

Netflix

I finally gave in a setup a Netflix account. Why now? I wanted movies on demand (via streaming) and because i plan to purchase an Apple TV. Since setting up the account, i’ve seen Revanche, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, The Orphanage, The Devil’s Backbone and the sci-fi classic La Jetee. On Halloween i watched The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Coppola’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula. I have to admit, I could never enjoy Coppola’s Dracula because he casted Keanu Reeves, but Monica Bellucci and Winona Ryder makes up for the unconvincing Keanu.
