I was at a party the other night and someone asked if i was on Facebook. I explained, i once had an account but left Facebook because i was tired of updating my status messages. Other reasons included escaping people i really didn’t want to associate with and because i didn’t want anyone asking me about work stuff. That said, i’m not against social networks by any means. In fact, the one social site i’m still involved with is Last.fm. Not like there’s that much action going on, but i’ve gotten a lot of good information from the community about music and bands. Also, the site is well designed and constantly being improved. I pay for the upgraded membership, which isn’t required, but would be if i want to escape the commercialism.
